The corona virus threatens us all. But there are children and families worldwide who find it particularly difficult to protect themselves: Because they live as refugees in a camp in Syria or Greece, where it is hardly possible to keep a distance. Because they have no access to clean water and soap and share sanitary facilities with hundreds of other people. And if they fall ill, the nearest doctor is hours away and the journey there is not even for them to pay.
These families had to rely on emergency aid before the outbreak of the corona virus. Now they need our support even more. We mustn’t forget them!
With your donation you can help children and families worldwide to protect themselves against the corona virus. Send simple but effective relief supplies like soap to crisis areas. Or support our educational work, which we have now massively strengthened. Thank you for helping to prevent an even bigger disaster!
In the fight against the corona virus, we at UNICEF concentrate on what we do best: reaching disadvantaged children and families in war and crisis areas with relief supplies and support. We work hand in hand with the World Health Organization, governments and many different partners.
Aid programs on water, hygiene and health are core issues of UNICEF aid worldwide. You save children’s lives. We have years of experience in the fight against the spread of diseases, for example from the Ebola epidemic in West Africa from 2014 to 2016. We can now fall back on these experiences.
UNICEF is the United Nations Children’s Fund. UNICEF’s mission is to realize children’s rights for every child, regardless of their skin color, religion or origin. The guideline for worldwide work is the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
From rapid emergency aid to long-term reconstruction, UNICEF helps girls and boys all over the world to grow up healthily and safely and to fully develop their skills.
UNICEF Germany was founded in 1953 as an association and is today one of the most important pillars of UNICEF’s work worldwide. Together with you we improve the world for children!
OUR TASKS
Wars, disasters, illnesses, hunger, violence and exploitation – UNICEF is used wherever children are in need or are disadvantaged. In over 150 countries, UNICEF is committed to ensuring that children receive medical care, have clean drinking water, can go to school and are protected from violence and exploitation. In Germany too, UNICEF is an important voice against child poverty, for participation and educational opportunities.
With effective programs and political influence, UNICEF has made sustainable progress for children – for over 70 years. UNICEF is as necessary today as it was when it was founded: never before have so many people fled since World War II. Over 250 million children grow up in conflict regions, and many more are at risk from natural disasters such as droughts, floods or epidemics.
