WE CAN’T CHANGE THE WORLD – BUT OUR CITY!
The association was founded in 1998 with this in mind. And it is still our guiding principle. Many have now been convinced of our idea of helping people on the ground who are affected by poverty and need help and support us in this. Everyone in his own way and as best he can. This is achieved through the association’s four aid projects: Café Grenzlos, Kaufhaus Grenzlos, Kinderest and social counseling.
Right from the start, the entire board of directors works on a voluntary basis and many administrative tasks are carried out by volunteers – so we can ensure that each donated euro arrives where it is most urgently needed and does not seep into the administrative apparatus. In everything we do, the focus is on the dignity of the people we help and respect and appreciation for them.
We cover 60% of our costs through donations.
The total costs of our projects amount to +/- 1,300,000 euros per year for rent, purchase of goods, personnel costs, energy costs etc.
The resulting independence from public grants and allowances enables us to go our own way, to work differently than other charitable organizations. We work completely independently and politically and non-denominationally. We want to decide for ourselves when we do what, what for and for whom.
We know that we cannot change the world – but our city.
The past few years have proven that.
