Bundesverband Kinderhospiz

The death of children is still a subject of fear of contact. It is all the more necessary to give child hospice work the necessary support – in public, in the media, with health insurance companies and associations, and with political decision-makers.

The basic goal orientation of children’s hospice work is to promote the quality of life of the affected children, adolescents and young adults and their families. It is based on the interests and needs of those affected.
Children’s hospice work consists of an outpatient and an inpatient work area. Both areas complement each other and merge seamlessly.
The children’s hospice work promotes the provision of palliative care and palliative medical treatment and offers comprehensive grief counseling. It coordinates medical, nursing and psychosocial support services in the immediate environment of the affected families (case management).
An integral part of the children’s hospice work is the qualification and professional support of full-time and volunteer employees.

Around 40,000 children and adolescents with life-limiting illnesses live in Germany. Around 5,000 children, adolescents and young adults die of such a disease every year.

The Bundesverband Kinderhospiz e.V. was founded on the initiative of outpatient and inpatient children’s hospices in 2002.

We are a recognized non-profit association. As the umbrella organization for children’s hospices in Germany, we represent the interests of our members in national and international contexts.
As a trade association, we are the point of contact for politics, science, doctors, clinics, cost units, donors and sponsors.

We inform and advise those affected, interested parties, specialists, initiatives and institutions. Our “Oskar” care telephone can be reached around the clock on the free number +49800 88 88 47 11.
